The Badu House Llano, TX
This grand building was built as the First National Bank of Llano
in 1891 and was considered one of the town's treasures from the
get go. In 1898 Professor N.J. Badu purchased the building and
turns it into a family home. Professor Badu was well known in
the community as a minerologist studying the stone in
the surrounding Llano area. The stone counter top in the bar
is considered the largest known piece of local Llanite and is
displayed proudly.
Professor Badu died in 1936 of a heart attack and his wake was held in the downstairs parlor. It is
thought that he still haunts this building as well as another former owner, Earl Ruff, who perished in
a motorcycle accident and a young girl who has been seen and heard in room #6. APG Founder,
Amanda Foster, had previously investigated the home a few years before. At that time there was a
manager by the name of Les Terrell who had been recording strange sounds in the building at
night. His recordings captured many sounds of doors slamming, boxes being moved, footsteps,
clanking noises and more. He also witnessed daily events such as tapping on the door jam of his
office while he was working on the computer, hearing footsteps and the feeling as if he was being
watched.
On our investigation we experienced multiple cold spots in the upstairs bedrooms, hearing whispers
in the upstairs hallway, the feelings that someone was standing next to us when no one was there
and also had a large trash can in the kitchen move in front of the kitchen door leading to the parlor,
none of us had moved it from it's original location. Our equipment findings produced many evps,
see video below.
We would like to thank the current owners, Stan and Karalina Venable, for allowing the
investigation to take place for the Chamber of Commerce charity event. If you would like to visit this
wonderful historic property and new wine bar you can find them at:
