Longhorn Cavern, Burnet, TX
First Investigation Inside the Cave
Longhorn Cavern State Park has a long history of haunting activity
inside and out! This cave system was carved out by tremendous
underground water flows which left a vast network of large
cavernous rooms connected by beautiful winding hallway passages.
The history of the caverns dates back from prehistoric times being
used by man and animal alike. It has been utilized for
different purposes over the years such as a sacred site for the
Comanche Indians, a gunpowder manufacturing post during the
Civil War, a hideout for outlaws including Sam Bass (notorious
gangster and bank robber), a 1920's night club/dance hall and now it's open for tours to the public
as a natural historic landmark.
There have been many ghost stories told about this ominous place! First hand accounts include, but are
not limited to, poltergeist activity, hearing voices, being physically touched, hearing children's laughter,
seeing apparitions and the list goes on.
Our investigation was such a great experience for us that we can't wait to go back. We had a whole host of
things happen to us during our stay such as being physically touched, hearing voices such as adult
conversations and children calling out, cold breezes in areas of the cave where there were no openings,
hearing taps on the walls right next to our ears and even having the spirits throw rocks on request! Our
equipment captured voices, whistles and strange sounds on tape, light anomalies on video and still
pictures of orbs. Our team also experienced multiple battery failures and camera malfunctions on this
investigation.
We would like to send out a special thanks to the management staff of the caverns for allowing us to
conduct the first paranormal investigation of the cave system, this was truly an honor to be granted
special access to such a place of mystery and intrigue!

Second Investigation Visitor Center
Our second investigation of the Cavern took place in the Visitor Center, museum and various out
buildings. Some stories are of a 'lady in white', a white Victorian dress that is, seen wandering all over
the premises above and below ground. Some reports are of strange bumps, thumps, taps and whispered
conversations and even random apparitions of Indians. Now....there are no reports of deaths in any of
the buildings and yet there were multiple reports of activity, especially in the Visitor Center/Gift Shop.
Were these the same spirits that inhabited the cave? We weren't sure what we were about to experience
but the results were fascinating.
Our team was impressed at how many personal experiences we had. We heard children laughing and
singing in the Observation Tower, taps in response to our questions in the museum area and also heard
furniture moving on it's own in the Visitor Center!

3rd Investigation Inside the Cave
On the third investigation things seemed more quiet to us than the first two investigations, as all
paranormal investigators know there can be nights when things are active and other nights will be
relatively quiet at the same location, although our equipment showed us otherwise . On this
investigation we went for a different approach than the first investigation. On the first cave
investigation we kept the lights on as a lot of the activity takes place on a regular basis under those
conditions but on this one we went for the total darkness approach. We, again, captured lots of audio.
Our personal experiences varied. We experienced visible moving 'light' phenomena on two different
occasions but were not able to capture it with the equipment as the cameras were pointing in the
other direction, scratching on the walls next to one of our investigators ears, heard the sound of
someone running past us in the Cathedral room, heard more conversations within ear shot that
sounded like adults talking and heard a 'roar' which we got on our recorder. During the investigations
and review of all data captured here we always try to find a logical explanation for all occurrences
but there are too many that defy a logical answer. We are still trying to find out who the spirit
people are who inhabit this vast underground system and maybe on a future investigation we will find
out. They seem to have made a comment that shows that they do recognize us, listen to the EVP
below that says 'They're back', which made us realize that our presence has been noted by someone
down there. We will keep you updated on the activity as we explore the happenings here! If you are
interested in seeing what you can experience in the cave then make yourself a reservation on one of
the 'Paranormal Tours' offered by Longhorn Cavern State Park and see what you can capture with
your equipment!
